26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree

Theme: “SCOUTS: Creating a Better World”

At the heart of Mount  Makiling is the Philippine Scouting Center for Asia-Pacific Region. The camp which sits on the slope a thousand feet above sea level, has an area of 57.7 hectares. Thousands of Scouts and their leaders from 26 countries converge for the much anticipated 26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scouting Jamboree for a seven-day of fun, adventure and learning while breaking the barriers of religion, creed and ideologies. The event would be the third time to be held in the country, which hosted the first and 12th Asia Pacific Jamboree in 1973 and 1991. With the theme “Creating a Better World” the event will be participated by 14,000 Scouts from 26 countries in the Asia Pacific of which Rizal, Laguna (Rizal Elementary School graders) has 21 delegates that form the BSP Rizal District Contingent assisted by three faculty staffs namely Sir Yurie Vista and Ma’am Medelyn Visey and Sir Mario Monserrat headed by Hon. Ferdinand O. Sumague BSP Rizal District Chairman.

BatangRizal Educator’s Team (BRET) led by BROrg. President BRO Ellen Visey with BRO Ghie Lucido and BRO Teody Escueta led the turn over of an Asahi 19inch wall fan to the First Year Pilot class I-Ivy’s request thru its class PTA President Mr. Ramil Alias. The turn over of the wall fan is part of the BROrg.’s commitment and support to the Cristobal S. Conducto Memorial National High School (formerly RNHS) thru the Department of Education’s (DepEd) ” Adopt a School Program” where in the BatangRizal Organization signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in support to the Cristobal S. Conducto MNHS  for three (3) years or ’till fy 2012. Source of fund for the purchase of the Asahi ’19inch wall fan were derived from  the BatangRizal T-shirt sales last Nov. 1 during the Org.’s fundraising drive on All Saints Day.  (photo by BRO Jhun Subijano)

Nutrition Month ’09

pj 010Rizal, Laguna is celebrating Nutrition Month , declaring July 1-31, 2009 and every year after as such. The proclamation is in accordance to the Nutrition Act of the Philippines designating the month of July as the Nutrition Month, encouraging all government agencies to take part in various nutrition activities during the month-long celebration. The celebration themed “Wastong Nutrisyon Kailangan, Lifestyle Diseases Iwasan!” aims to increase public awareness on the role and importance of proper nutrition as a preventive measure against non-communicable diseases (NDCs). The proclamation also aims to encourage individuals to make positive decisions towards proper nutrition, and to encourage stakeholders to create an environment that promotes proper nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
